PPC myEnergy SolarSmart is a new, innovative energy solution that provides the benefits of a solar power system without the need to invest in equipment and with a minimal initial activation cost.

PPC installs and operates your home's photovoltaic system; you just pay for the energy produced by the system, at a set, agreed-upon price for ten years. In addition, you receive a guaranteed 20% annual bill reduction if a minimum synchronization rate is met; otherwise, we refund the difference. Installing a photovoltaic system allows you to considerably cut your electricity expenditure and carbon dioxide emissions.

With PPC myEnergy Coach, you can track your energy output and consumption in real-time. Our specialized team manages the entire process, from the research and design stage to installation, grid connection, ongoing maintenance (annual inspection and periodic cleaning), and remote monitoring by a specialized technician for immediate repair in the event of a malfunction throughout the contract.

Remote monitoring for a year

Insurance policy

The solar system is fully insured against all potential hazards (theft, loss, etc.) and is repaired immediately if damaged. The insurance policy takes effect once HEDNO has connected the photovoltaic installation to the grid.

You can also opt for a battery (Huawei LUNA2000) at an additional cost:

Storage system (Battery)

Including a battery allows self-consumption during periods when the photovoltaic system cannot be utilized directly (nighttime, adverse weather, etc.).

Huawei LUNA2000 battery that includes both the power control module and storage components (battery modules).

Depending on its power, each Huawei inverter may accommodate 1-6 storage modules of 5 kWh each, totaling up to 30 kWh in a photovoltaic system.

What is PPC myEnergy SolarSmart?

PPC myEnergy SolarSmart is an energy solution that allows you to use solar energy in your house without needing to purchase photovoltaic equipment.

PPC installs, monitors, and maintains the photovoltaic system (up to 10.8 kW), while you consume the energy produced and pay just for it, at a fixed and individualized rate per kWh that is included in your power bill.

The solution is combined with a net metering program, which means that you use the energy generated only when you need it, while any excess is fed into the grid and paid to your account.

Simply said, you use energy generated at home to reduce your electricity expenses without investing in equipment.

What does PPC myEnergy SolarSmart include?

PPC myEnergy SolarSmart is an all-around solution that covers all stages of the solar system's lifecycle, from design and installation to continuing operation and support, providing a simple and reliable client experience. This includes the following:

  • A personalized quote tailored to your home's energy requirements
  • Managing the licensing process with HEDNO
  • Supply and installation of high-quality solar equipment with all relevant certifications and high efficiency
    Personalized client service
  • Annual maintenance of the photovoltaic system to ensure its optimal operation
  • Periodic cleaning to maximize energy generation

How much do I need to pay?

The energy solution's pricing is personalized and based on the system's size, generation capacity, and energy requirements.

There are two major charges.

A. Activation Cost 

This is the cost of activating the PPC myEnergy SolarSmart energy solution, and it covers the system's study, design, and connection procedures, among other things. It is paid in two installments:

  • 50% upon signing the contract
  • 50% after HEDNO issued the connection terms

The activation fee is €999.

B. Monthly billing for generated electricity

Once the system is activated and connected to the grid, you will only pay for the energy generated by your photovoltaic system on your monthly power account, at a predetermined price per kWh.

This rate is specified in the quote you receive, allowing you to save money as compared to energy purchased from the grid.

Note: The connection price to HEDNO is not included in the activation cost and must be paid separately when applying for a connection through the HEDNO platform.

 

What is the guaranteed 20% yearly savings rate?

The PPC myEnergy SolarSmart energy system includes a guarantee of at least 20% annual savings on overall electricity expenses (supply charges and regulatory charges), assuming the requisite minimum synchronization rate* is met.

* To apply the electricity cost reduction guarantee (20% yearly) under the supplementary PPC myEnergy SolarSmart program, a minimum simultaneous usage percentage is specified in accordance with the contract requirements. Your reported consumption profile determines the minimum synchronization rate and applies to all electricity generated over the year.

 

What happens if the guaranteed annual savings of 20% are not met?

If during the yearly settlement, the projected 20% savings on electricity expenses (supply and regulated charges) have been met, a compensation mechanism is activated.

Specifically, if the minimum synchronization requirement is met but you do not receive a 20% annual reduction on your bill, PPC will pay the amount in euros corresponding to the unrealized savings difference by crediting the amount to your electricity bill, ensuring that you receive the guaranteed financial benefit.

 

What determines how much I’ll save?

Your consumption profile mostly determines your savings and the amount of energy you consume at the exact moment your solar panel system generates it (synchronization).

The larger this percentage, the bigger the overall savings on your bill.

Who owns the system?

The solar system stays PPC's property for the length of the contract. This way, you enjoy the benefits of solar energy without investing in equipment, paying only for the energy produced by the photovoltaic system.

 

What happens if property ownership changes?

If property ownership changes, the contract can be transferred to the new owner/tenant or terminated through the Public Power Corporation (PPC), depending on the terms of the contract.

 

What are the technical and energy requirements?

To sign up for the PPC myEnergy SolarSmart energy solution, you must meet certain basic requirements:

  • An active household power account in your name
  • The minimum yearly usage is ~8,500 kWh, making the solution cost-effective for your profile
  • Suitable installation space (roof, flat roof, or ground) with adequate surface area
  • Building structural integrity is necessary for safe installation
  • The right consumption profile to meet the needed minimum synchronization rate, in accordance with the terms of the contract.

Specialized engineers provide final confirmation throughout the design phase to guarantee that the system is acceptable and efficient for your home.

 

What are the steps to activate PPC myEnergy SolarSmart?

  1. Fill out the form of interest on myenergysolar.dei.gr app, and if you meet the requirements based on your usage profile, you will immediately receive an initial indicative estimate.
  2. A specialized representative will call you to discuss the solution and answer any questions you may have.
  3. If you wish to receive a personalized price for the PPC myEnergy SolarSmart solution, an on-site examination will be performed at the installation site.
  4. Next, expert engineers will create a thorough proposal based on your requirements, and the estimate and contract will be given to you electronically; the contract is valid for thirty (30) days from the date of shipment.
  5. If you accept the quote, you will digitally sign the contract and send it electronically. After accepting and paying 50% of the activation fee as indicated in the contract terms, PPC's specialist partners will notify you of the various implementation steps leading up to the system's installation and energization.
  6. Then, a specialized engineer will walk you through the application procedure on the HEDNO platform, during which you must pay the needed connection fee to HEDNO.
  7. After signing the connection contract with HEDNO and paying the remaining 50% of the activation cost to PPC, the solar system will be installed in accordance with the accepted bid.
  8. Once the photovoltaic system is connected to the grid, billing for the energy produced begins with your power bill.

 

What is Net Billing?

In Net Billing, the energy produced is netted off simultaneously with the energy spent. Any excess energy generated and used by the photovoltaic system is sold to the grid at the hourly Next Day Market Clearing Price.

The consumer continues to pay for power usage, but the revenue from the sale of the generated photovoltaic system, the excess energy is stored as a priority in the storage system until it is fully charged, and any excess beyond that is injected into the grid.

 

Do I have to sign a connection agreement for Net Billing?

To run a solar system with net metering, you must obtain a connection agreement with HEDNO.

The procedure is carried out under the supervision of a trained engineer, who will assist you with all necessary stages. When you submit the connection application, you must pay the applicable connection charge to HEDNO.

 

Is the operation without feeding energy into the grid (zero feed-in) supported?

No. The PPC myEnergy SolarSmart energy solution works exclusively with a net metering plan (Net Billing).

This means that the energy produced by the photovoltaic system is mostly consumed on your property, with any excess supplied into the grid and compensated at the Next-Day Market Clearing Price. Zero feed-in is not supported.

 

What if the photovoltaic system malfunctions?

In the case of a malfunction, PPC will assess the problem and return the system to full operation at no cost to you for maintenance or repairs, according to the provisions of the agreement.

 

What is the best method for monitoring the system's output?

The PPC myEnergy Coach app displays the solar system's output in real time, allowing you to track your system's performance and self-consumption rate based on actual data.

 

What options do I have once the contract expires?

After the 10-year contract expires, you can select how you want to continue your cooperation with PPC based on your needs:

  • Renewal of the agreement for another ten years, with equipment updates
    You have the option of renewing the contract for another ten (10) years, with the replacement of part or all of the equipment (repowering), following an on-site examination, so that the system can be fitted to your new energy requirements. In this case, the contract terms and the tariff for the energy produced are renegotiated without incurring any further activation charges.
  • Five-year renewal of the current contract at a reduced rate
    You can extend the contract for an additional five (5) years while keeping the present equipment and receiving a 40% discount on the price charged for energy produced compared to the initial contract. When the extension expires, the system is transferred to you for a minimal cost.
  • Termination of the contract and removal of the equipment
    If you choose not to renew or extend the contract, it will be terminated, and the equipment will be disassembled and returned to PPC.

 

Can I cancel the contract before it expires?

Yes, you may terminate the contract at any moment.

In that case, the PV system will be removed, and an early termination fee will be imposed.

 

Can I switch electricity providers while I have the PPC myEnergy SolarSmart plan?

Yes, you can switch electricity suppliers.

In that case:

  • The savings guarantee no longer applies as electricity consumption is no longer billed by PPC. This makes it difficult to track the necessary data to confirm the savings and synchronization rate.
  • The charge for energy produced is now billed separately.
  • Billing continues as usual based on available metering data from the Network Operator or other certified sources.

 

Can I switch electricity tariffs while I have the PPC myEnergy SolarSmart plan?

Yes, you can select a different electricity product at any moment without disrupting the operation of the PPC myEnergy SolarSmart system or the billing for the energy you produce.
