    Off-Peak Electricity Tariff

1. The domestic off-peak tariff is applied 8 hours a day. There are two basic time-schedules:

Continuous
Continuous supply (23:00-07:00) offered year-round. This applies to customers who have been on the off-peak tariff prior to 1988, as well as to recent customers in select areas.

Mixed (Segmented)
Continuous supply (23:00-07:00) offered from May to October and segmented (15:30-17:50 and 02:00-08:00) offered from November to April. This applies to customers who have been on the off-peak tariff since 1988.

Depending on the area, there are some variations in the start-up time.

You may obtain information regarding the exact off-peak schedule of your property by visiting or calling your local PPC office.

In order to be aware of the exact start-up and end time of the off-peak tariff, you may ask your electrician to install a pilot light on your fuse box. The pilot light remains lit during off-peak tariff hours.

2. In order to obtain the residential off-peak tariff, you should submit an application at your local PPC office, bringing along a recent electricity bill of your property, and pay a fee currently amounting to 29,35 Euro plus VAT. You must also provide a certificate prepared by a Certified Electrician, stating that an additional service wire (blue color, 1,5 mm2) has already been installed.

3. Off-peak tariff charges per kWh are steady for all types of consumption and are announced by PPC along with the residential tariffs. In addition, there is a fixed charge. Your electricity bill separately records the power you have consumed during the day and the night, along with the relevant charges.

4. If you have already opted for continuous off-peak tariff you may switch to the segmented one, but then you cannot return to continuous. This option is valid for most areas of the country.
The two prerequisites are that your installation has an additional service wire (the existence of which is indicated by the Certificate of the Certified Electrician) and that you have submitted an application to the local PPC office. Switching is to your advantage only if you can transfer significant power consumption to the noon and early afternoon hours in the period from November 1st to April 30th.
