PPC S.A. cares for the environment

Main guidelines of its policy

Respect for the environment is one of the major parameters defining PPC's overall strategy and its daily operational activities.


PPC's environmental strategy is based on the following main guidelines:

• Compliance with all European and National environmental legislation, a prerequisite for all company's activities
  
  
• Formulation of policy regarding the application of PPC's strategy. Development of necessary procedures and know-how expertise for the implementation of this policy under each Business Unit of the company
  
  
• Application of the Best Available Technologies (BAT), in new power plants and gradually in existing ones, within the framework of the Directive for the Integrated Prevention and Pollution Control (IPPC)
  
  
• Development of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), such as solar, wind and geothermal
  
  
• Communication with all interested parties during the planning of development programs and projects
  
  
• Follow up and promotion of scientific knowledge and know-how expertise for the implementation of the environmental and health and safety policy
  
  
• Continuous exchange of information and collaboration with national authorities and other enterprises in the same industrial sector for the development of antipollution technologies and determination of measures to reduce pollution
  
  
• Development of environmental awareness programs for all level of personnel in order to keep them informed on environmental issues concerning the corporation activities. This programs also aim at explaining the personnel responsibilities and duties in the field of environment
  
  
• Development of external communication, so that the public will become familiar with measures taken by PPC with regard to the environmental protection
  
  
• Evaluation of PPC's environmental achievements in comparison with the results obtained and the methods applied by other similar enterprises

PPC incorporates all above guidelines in its Environmental Management System and has the target to certify it.
